Is Kindle Unlimited Worth It?

Have you been thinking about trying Kindle Unlimited but aren’t sure if its worth it? Let’s break it down and see!
I have been a Kindle Unlimited subscriber since I got my first kindle in 2018. I personally prefer to read eBooks so it has really become my favorite device. You can read more about different eReaders here, & my suggestions on them!
If you aren’t familiar, Kindle Unlimited is a eBook borrowing service by Amazon. There are thousands of books on KU and if you are a romance reader, there is A TON of romance on KU. You can borrow 10 books at a time and some are available to read & listen which means the audiobook will automatically be available on your audible account.
Alright, lets get into how to determine if Kindle Unlimited is worth it for you!
Do you read eBooks?
This is kind of a no brainer but it’s the first question you should ask if you are considering Kindle Unlimited. All KU books are eBooks so enjoying reading eBooks is a must. You can try out eBooks on your phone or iPad/tablet via the kindle app but I would highly recommend upgrading to a kindle if you like eBooks! The reading quality is amazing and I love it’s portability.

How many books do you read a month?
Next, you should consider how many books you read a month. If you are quite a voracious reader, KU might be a good choice! If you only read 1 or 2 books a month, it may not be worth it.
Buy or Borrow?
One of the things I love about Kindle Unlimited is that it feels low risk. I can check out books, give them a try, and if I don’t like them, I just return them. No problem. But when you buy a book, it puts a little more pressure on what to buy, will you like it, forcing yourself to read it, etc. If you want to borrow books low risk and try lots of different books or read a lot in one month, KU is probably right for you!
You want Romance & you want it now!
The romance genre is HUGE on KU. Many indie authors that write romance use Kindle Direct Publishing and put their books into Kindle Unlimited. Seriously, there is a ridiculous amount of romance books on KU. Personally, I used the library a lot prior to getting a kindle. I love the library but the problem I was having was that my library didn’t carry a lot of the romances I was looking for. Guess where I found them? Kindle Unlimited.
Lets look at price…
Kindle Unlimited is $9.99 per month. Say you read 5 books/month and suppose an eBook will set you back $3.99 (some are less, some are more). That is almost $16/month. Think about if you read more than 5 books/month? I know that not EVERY book you want to read will be on KU but there are a lot of options!
