Review: All the Little Lies by S.J. Sylvis
SYNOPSIS:
English Prep stands tall with its ivy-covered exterior and old, wrought-iron doors. The stone gargoyles sit at the school’s entrance, knowing just as much as anyone: I don’t belong.
Once upon a time, I did. I belonged in the “it” crowd with all the other well-endowed kids, but now, I am no longer welcome.
Not after five years away from this place.
Not after the scandal that landed me on the wrong side of the tracks.
I’d be lying if I said I’m not looking forward to seeing the one person who was always by my side. My old best friend. My safe place.
Only, Christian isn’t the same boy I left behind. His cold, brooding, devastatingly attractive glare sends chills down my spine. My old best friend doesn’t welcome me with open arms, and I have no idea why. Lies continue to fall from our lips.
Christian wants me gone.
But I’m determined to stay.
Review:
Well, hello, you beautiful angsty romance! Wow!!! SJ Sylvis hit her stride writing this book! I was so engrossed in this story and really loved these characters. I have such a soft spot for reading young love with all of its drama and life transforming swoon. Add in best friends turned lusting enemies plus some suspense and I am on board!
5 years before the book begins, Hayley and Christian endure a life altering night. Hayley's cushy life is stripped from her quickly and she leaves English Prep without a word. Christian's life slowly deteriorates and he blames Hayley for it's outcome. As Hayley finds her way back to English Prep and Christian, she doesn't realize Christian isn't the same boy she left behind.
SJ just blew me away with this book. These two characters hit every note. It was bullyish with out being OTT, angsty and suspenseful, and as Christian slowly opens back up to Hayley their chemistry was off the charts!! I felt all the feels for Hayley, she really goes through it and at such a young age. Christian has also had much to endure but has largely ignored facing the realities of his life other than placing the blame squarely on Hayley. Once the two team up, there is no stopping them! SJ teased us HARD with Ollie and Piper, I am looking for to the next book like you wouldn't believe!!
