SYNOPSIS:

I don’t want you.
You mean nothing to me.
I never loved you.

I turned my words into swords.
And I cut her down. Shoved the blade in and watched her fall.

I said I’d never hurt her, and I did.

Years later, I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted, when all I wanted was to indulge my obsession.

Lavender Waters is the princess in the tower. Even her name is the thing fairy tales are made of.

I used to be the one who saved her.
Over and over again.

But I don’t want to save her anymore.
I just want to pretend the lies are still the truth.

Review:

OK, I know I am a self proclaimed Helena Hunting super fan but it's for good reason because this book was FIRE!!! I am living for the angsty new adult romances right now and this hit the spot perfectly.

We get to know Lavender a little bit in A Secret for a Secret where we learn that she is incredibly shy and artistic. Meeting grown up Lavender in Little Lies had me jumping up and down like yasss Lav, look at you! Lavender is in her second year of college but first year living away from home. She moves in with her twin brother and older brother with her cousins & childhood friends living down the street. This whole cast is amazing and I loved the dynamic of all of them together. Except then there is Kodiak, the boy Lavender has extensive history with but believe hates her guts.

The book does a few time jumps and gives background to the shared history between Lavender and Kodiak and some of the reasons why they don't get along. My heart was wrenched by all of the childhood history that these two share. They each have a lot that they deal with daily and had an unhealthy co-dependency. As their dependency comes to a head, their parents separate them believing they are heading down a toxic path.

I loved how Lavender and Kodiak's paths weave with each other and while they needed time away they ultimately come back together stronger. Plus, adult Lavender doesn't take any shit!! When she tells Kody to "nut the fuck up" I LOST IT!! Yes, girl. Slow clap to Lavender!! She does not let him get away with his bullshit and that was truly the best.

I love seeing some of my favorite characters as parents now too. Violet as a mom is SO GOOD and it makes me want to read Pucked again. (probably will). I seriously hope Helena is writing books for the rest of these character because I NEED BJ, Maverick, & River's books ASAP!
